Don't get ahead of yourself now

Fruit is Stacey’s Friend...blog entry # 20…my journey in becoming 100% LoFat Raw Vegan (LFRV), meaning eating 80% or more of my calorie intake from carbs >10% Fat, >10% protein. Aka 80/10/10 (811)…away from the standard American diet (SAD diet)

Don’t get ahead of yourself now

Day 5 (26 days to go….!)

Today I posted a set of rules on my fridge along with a set of someone else’s. I will start with the “someone else’s” I just thought they were genius, and because I too think this way, I knew it would be a big help to me.

I wrote a user manual for my body based on my experience.

INSTRUCTIONS

1)Feed with whole, fresh, ripe, raw fruits and vegetables.

2)Supply enough fresh fruits.

3)Give fruits as they are, do not blend or juice.

4)Give one food at a time.

5)Provide enough sleep and rest.

6)Engage in play.

7)Supply enough water.

8)Provide fresh air and sunshine.

9)Play Dr. Graham's talks.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Wants cooked food?...............You didn't supply enough fresh fruits.

Wants dried fruits?.................You didn't supply enough fresh fruits.

Wants nuts or seeds?.............You didn't supply enough fresh fruits.

Tired?......................................You didn't provide enough sleep and rest.

Doesn't feel motivated?.........You didn't play Dr. Graham's talks.

Depressed?.............................You didn't engage in play. OR You didn't provide fresh air and sunshine. OR You didn't supply enough fresh fruits.

Dehydrated?...........................You didn't supply enough water. OR You didn't feed with whole, fresh, ripe, raw fruits and vegetables.

Has muscle soreness?............You didn't supply enough fresh fruits “& water”. OR You didn't provide enough sleep and rest.

Doubts the diet?.....................You didn't play Dr. Graham's talks. OR You didn't supply enough fresh fruits.

My rules

  1. Start each day off with 1 liter of water at room temp.
  2. Earn your 1st meal (ie work out).
  3. Dot not eat until 12 noon.
  4. Do not eat unless hungry.
  5. Drink lots of water (avoiding thirst).
  6. Eat greens and vegetables alone & at my dinner meal
  7. Eat as many mono meals as possible throughout the day.
  8. Eat only (or less) 1 tblsp oil, 1/3 avo, handful of nuts a day, or handful of olives a day.
  9. Do not eat after 8pm.
  10. Avoid people & places that lead you into temptation.
  11. Water fast for 1-3 days a week.

3/5/10 meal analysis

Started with a large glass of water, not even close to hitting a liter, but I am sure I will get there with time.

2 Apple 1 banana 5 date, squeeze of lime, so yummy (next time 2 nana’s 1 apple more smooth that way less apple sauceish)

2 Cucumbers 6 stalks of celery 4 sprigs of dill, tiny tbsp of tahini processed till it was soup. Pretty good…not amazing but good. Very light and fresh in flavor.

“Carmel” apples during a movie and I admit a few bites of popcorn (I spoke too soon, referring to my title “it ain’t nuthin’ yet pshhhh, don’t get too full of yourself now stacey right!?! What a dumbo I can be….never underestimate the power of temptation when it is right in front of your face. There is nothing I can do about the way my hunny bunny eats, so I am just going to have to learn to deal with this and just say NO when he is eating one of my favs SAD foods.

3/5/10 Activities

Took babykins for a walk around echo park lake again she loves it there. Walked to farmers market bought a whole bunch of greens, and fresh herbs can’t wait to add em to my smoothies and soups.

3/5/10 Symptoms

Not such a bad taste in my mouth, but heavy heavy sleeping still, and legs feel kinda achy. Took a nap in the middle of the day, I didn’t sleep long, but apple sure did!

It ain’t nuthin (not yet anyway)

Fruit is Stacey’s Friend...blog entry # 19…my journey in becoming 100% LoFat Raw Vegan (LFRV), meaning eating 80% or more of my calorie intake from carbs >10% Fat, >10% protein. Aka 80/10/10 (811)…away from the standard American diet (SAD diet)

It ain’t nuthin (not yet anyway)

Day 4 (27 days to go….!)

Yesterday was quit easy, as it usually is when you 1st start anything (hopes are high, the ambition is still very strong)! I went grocery shopping, and since this time, I feel I’m not going to stress out about how many calories, or weighing and all that stuff (for me it added a lot of un-needed pressure), I did not make a list, I just bought what I wanted. I spent 90$ so we will see how long that lasts (I probably spent about 20$ on my bf’s food). I think that when I 1st started this last time I got so entrenched in weighing food and calories that it took much more time than necessary. So it made it harder on me, and I need this to be as easy as possible!!! For the life of me I can’t find my receipt I really really wanted to post it…If I find it I will do it later.

I bought my plane ticket to Costa Rica (wut up know!) That baby is getting posted on the fridge and etched in my arm haha, constant reminder that I have to lead by example for all the others that are going there to learn about raw foods.

Did I mention that my bf got me a food processor for V-day, OMG best thing that ever happened to my fruitarian bum! I used it 3 times alone yesterday. Waaaaaay better than a blender. You can make things chunky, soup thicker, and you can even make a tiny bit of something so much easier. I always found with a blender that if I make a small amount (like a pesto or something) most of it was stuck under the blades, and that just ticked me OFF! So now I don’t have to worry, and I def suggest getting one.

3/4/10 meal analysis

I Have read on rawfoodexlained.com as well as in DR. TC FRY’s book that our body goes through 3 phases from 4am-12pm you are in the phase of your body getting rid of junk (ie pooping) 12pm-8pm you are int the phase of replenishing your body (ie eating) 8pm- 4am you are in the phase of recharging (ie sleeping) ….

So I am going to wait to eat till 12pm each day because you are not supposed to eat while your body is trying to get rid of things. I will have water until then (although I did taste my scrumcious little orange coco balls too make sure I mad them right, but hey that’s nuthin right!)

I made tangerine/Orange juice, then I ate a banana strawberry blueberry smoothie, then I ate apples with date dip (so good). It taste like apples dipped in caramel seriously that good! All you do is throw some mejdool dates in the food processor with a tiny bit of water and process and there you have it “dip”.

3/4/10 Activities

Took babykins for a walk around echo park lake for the 1st time, she had a great time chasing the birds, but was real tired on our way back up the hill, it was precious.

3/3/10 Symptoms

Woke up with a terrible taste in my mouth (as some would think “hey this is normal right”) This is not normal, we should wake up with pink tongues (not white) and the same breathe as we would have all day….the white tongue is due to toxins seeping out of its pores which = bad breath ..SO GROSS!

I feel like I am sleeping sooo heavy, apple was barking all last night at god knows what, and it didn’t phase me one bit, out lika light!

We have LIFT OFF!

Fruit is Stacey’s Friend...blog entry # 18…my journey in becoming 100% LoFat Raw Vegan (LFRV), meaning eating 80% or more of my calorie intake from carbs >10% Fat, >10% protein. Aka 80/10/10 (811)…away from the standard American diet (SAD diet)

We have LIFT OFF!

Day 3 (28 days to go)

Wow so I’m three days into my new lifestyle. Not 100% LFRV, but on my way starting tomorrow! I have done pretty good the last three days not really slip ups because I hadn’t made the 100% commitment to myself or to all of you yet. But right here right now, I am professing my next commitment to being 100% LFRV for the month of April.

There are several reasons why I need to get back on track, #1 my deep desire to succeed at this healthy lifestyle, #2 my future wish to help other people learn how they can help themselves through this diet, and healthy lifestyle practices #3 because I am going to be an intern at a raw retreat, and don’t want to be a big fat phony! (in ashamed sad face voice, “they see my bs a mile away, blemishes on my face, stinky morning breath, and every other embarrassing bodily function that comes with eating a SAD diet)

Now that I am in my commitment I need to lay down the rules again, as much as I want my 2nd try to be as informative as the 1st so that people can learn and gain from my experience if they find themselves curious about this lifestyle, I know now that I was taking off more than I could chew (hehe not in fruit, but in tasks to keep the my readers as aware as possible). So in my second attempt I will try my best to keep up my data entry “but for-warning it may not always be there” in a little girl, I’m sorry selfish voice but I can’t help the whole world learn how to do their diet all by myself VOICE L

Rule 1 refocus – Remember what I wrote on day 1 of my 1st try, I sounded so ready and excited (if you don’t, don’t you fret here it is heeeere it is)

I’m taking The plunge into …da na na naaaaa …. High Water Content, Lo Fat, Lo Protein, Raw, Vegan, Whole, Fresh, Ripe, FRUITS & VEGETABLES!!!

How exciting right ?!?! :D

I know a lot of you may be asking yourself, how can a girl (or human) live on only raw fruits and vegetables?..... and I am not writing this to get into discussions or battles with my readers about what is right and what is wrong….I just want to prove, that not only is it possible to live on only raw fruits and vegetables, but I will THRIVE!

This is not your ordinary raw foodism diet. I believe that a lot of the raw food community eats a lot of stuff that really isn’t food at all. If you are interested in reading deeper into the diet I will be practicing please visit www.rawfoodexplained.com

I need to get back to that place….so I am very excited to be going on this trip in April, and I need to be as prepared as possible so I must do this for the remaining 28 days until I leave!

Rule 2- DO NOT go out to eat with Friends or the boyfriend! This leads to instant disaster! Today I tried to go eat lunch with my gf, I mentioned I could only eat at one place by our house, we get there & it has a bit of a wait (I could tell she was looking a little impatient) so I said do you just want to go somewhere else, and she says YES, so there you have it folks, no one is willing to put up with me and what I need to do to stay on track…. That’s right, if you want to do something for yourself you need to be prepared to do it alone (not sayin’ no one cares or no one supports but peeps just can’t be 100% caring or supportive 100% of the time so you have to be that for yourself)

Rule 3- Meet real life fruit friends, so that means taking some time to set up a meet-up http://www.meetup.com/LosAngelesFruitFriends/ join me if you will, and we can be great fruit friends together. It’s a tough gig all alone.

Rule 4- Don’t even make the slightest mistake! As I’ve said I’m all or nothing, and I know this about myself, so if I introduce even the tiniest variation to my diet I could face huge failure once again….leading to #5

Rule 5- if by chance I do fudge up (and it really could be with fudge because I like love fudge) then I need to not be so hard on myself, and get RIGHT back on that horse, and not wait so long, and be all depressed and down on myself like some loser.

3/3/10 meal analysis

Juiced 5 oranges for breakfast ate a vegan salad for lunch.

3/3/10 Activities

Took baby apple for a walk (omg I’ve gotta get a recent pic of her up here so big and adorable!)

3/3/10 Symptoms

Cramping in the lower part of my legs, and tired

Big FAT (literally) failure!

Fruit is Stacey’s Friend...blog entry # 17…my journey in becoming 100% LoFat Raw Vegan, meaning eating 80% or more of my calorie intake from carbs >10% Fat, >10% protein. Aka 80/10/10

Big FAT (literally) failure!

Day 0 (not sure how many days to go)

Ok so as you all know I have fallen of the wagon big time…! All for reasons that sound pathetic and self pitiable…(laughing with a sad face)……so this entry is not to proclaim my new fresh beginning (although I strongly wish it were), it is to write about what went wrong and my in the near future plans to correct my previous endeavors. Following is a list of what I have realized in my failures, and the solutions which I am preparing to start practicing (there is never any gain from just stating problems without trying to come up with a solution for them, in my matter or fact I know everything and you don’t voice ;)

Recognition #1 ….I am truly addicted to the SAD (standard American diet), which include but are not limited to cooked foods, salt, dairy products, and everything else that you know you should not be eating, but want to for some reason, but can’t put your finger on why….I now know why …..addiction!!!!
Solution #1…go about this diet as any other addicted person must do! 1st step, admit it! 2nd step drop your bad habit completely and immediately.

Recognition #2….I am an all or nothing type of girl (awful realizing this about myself, but unfortunately it is true in more than one aspect in my life)….I am either gung ho and tottaly entralwed or the complete opposite “F’ it all, I’m gonna do want I want now” type of attitude… So introducing even the slightest variation of the LFRV diet leads to an absolute failure in my attempts to change. So far gone off the diet that I even eat French fries, and cheese once again (what a wicked web we weave …in a sultry, sarcastic, drawn out, self defeated voice). Solution #2 re-read step #2, maybe this isn’t such a bad characteristic when it is focused on the good.

Recognition #3…real life, face to face support/motivation. When you have no one in your life who practices the same beliefs, nor do they even believe in what you are doing, that can make it very hard to continue your own practice. As a social person I like to be surrounded by people who like and do the same things as me (I am sure you do to)…so when there is no one with you, and every one against you (also while they scrutinize you) it is hard to stay on track. Solution #3 find Fruit Friends! I have a meet-up group on meetup.com called “Los Angeles Fruit Friends” please join me J

Recognition #4…. short term goals=earlier pay off, and more prizes! I love to win, and I love presents (who doesn’t right) soooo with a short term goal you can be more proud of yourself, more often…doesn’t that sound just FAB! Solution #4 from now on short term goals I am thinking I will start with a week, when I begin. …crazy eyes, when will I begin??? Eek : /

Still Proud of myself…I think

Fruit is Stacey’s Friend...blog entry # 16…my journey in becoming 100% LoFat Raw Vegan, meaning eating 80% or more of my calorie intake from carbs >10% Fat, >10% protein.

Still Proud of myself…I think (hesitant voice, really not sure if I’m just a big fat failure)

Day 16 11/22/09…(349 to go)

Regardless of being 85-90% all fruit, not 100% like I had planned, I am still proud of myself. I am not going to look at this as a failed attempt, just an on going one. My down falls have not been cooked food, but gourmet raw food, so that isn’t really that bad, well not as bad as eating pizza, I am still vegan (except for that one thai food experience which is the colprut of this entire landslide L).

I am proud that I haven’t had a coffee or alchoholic beverage in 22 days. I have also not eater CHEESE the love of my liiife, in 22 days. I have not eaten bread in 16 days (maybe more)…isn’t that awesome! It has always been so hard for me to let those 4 things go, and as of right now they are the least of my problems. Mind you I still do think about them from time to time, and I think of all the reasons why I should not be depriving myself of them, but alas I have stuck to my guns and have 4 things to be proud of so far in this journey….Next accomplishments, sticking to 100% 811 like I have said (meaning no cooked food, no salts. Spices, low fat, and HIGH FRUIT)

So today is wedding day…yippeee megs…my gf is gonna look so pretty, I am so excited for her and her new hubbie!!!! But dun dun duunnnnn….what am I going to eat?!!?!!!??? I am going to be there from 4pm-??? I really don’t think I can pack that much fruit.

11/21/09 meal analysis

started the day off right and with very good intentions to keep it up for the rest of the day…I ate a 2 large banana and 5oz frozen cherry smoothie, then I had 2 persimmons, a bunch of cherry tomatoes, a green salad with tabouleh on it. I went to the movies, and got popcorn …but with no butter…so I didn’t go that far, and it was a small which I shared with my friend. Soo boo I failed another day. It is so hard to get back on track once you’ve cheated….is all lost for me L…I am hoping Monday I am on the horse galloping toward the finish line.

11/21/09 Activities

House work all day, and what do you know, it doesn’t look like I did a thing!

11/21/09 Symptoms

dry mouth (too much salt) soo thirsty (also just too much salt) less energy ….all major reasons to get back on track…I don’t like feeling like this. I also don’t like the symptom called guilt. Which I have had all day long for the past 5 days…even just thinking about things I am not supposed to eat I feel bad about myself…that part of this just can’t be healthy…any suggestions on dealing with these emotions?

Thanks for reading even tho I suck now!

Why am I doing this???

Fruit is Stacey’s Friend...blog entry # 15…my journey in becoming 100% LoFat Raw Vegan, meaning eating 80% or more of my calorie intake from carbs >10% Fat, >10% protein.

Why am I doing this???

Day 15 11/21/09…(350 to go)

I would say 85-90% fruit makes up each of my past 3 days.

After I finish all the fruit I have bought I am going to go on a water fast. This will help detox the nonsense I have been eating and clear those cravings right up! And now that I am 15 days in on my journey, not 100% as I planned I have decided to come up with a list reminding me of al the reasons I began to do this for myself (I am printing this puppy out and posting it on my fridge, I would also like to get it tattooed on my hands so that while I am shoveling the wrong food down my throat I will have the constant slap in the face I need to stay on track…not really, but kinda)

1. Stay skinny….Maintain ideal body weight, I tend to fluctuate 5-10lbs (when I get up to that 10 I get real sad…lord knows I will lose it!!! if I have to go to the store to buy a bigger size)

2. Looking young FOREVER!…(have you seen that playboy playmate fruitarian..to die for at 55!)…..did I mention I am 28? I started crying when I turned 13 because I didn’t want to be a teenager, I also cried when I turned 20 because I wasn’t a teenager any longer, I started to think I was going to die soon when I turned 25…which is right about when I found holistic health…(took me 3 years to finally get on the ball ..LAME)

3. no more pimples….I loathe these sob’s, I am 28 freakin years old, and have the face of a pubescent 8th grader ugh!

4. Cellulite…can yo say disgusting! I don’t want any!!

5. Be healthy for the rest of my days…I know this should be # 1, but as you can see from the 1st four posts (pause, wait for it, can you guess?)…. I am vain!

6. I am soooo sick of being hungover, or waking up tired, over stimulating myself with coffee, feeling uncomfortable after I eat…..etc, etc etc!

-I want to help others learn that they too can alleviate some of their sufferings…I think that is my main reason (solemn face) I feel so bad that people don’t know how to eat correctly, and that most of their health problems are because of it L

…it really does make me sad.

7. I like waking up in the morning with a fresh mouth, bright eyes (no dark circles people)…and full of energy…I like waking up before my alarm, not having to wish for just 1 more hour of sleep (that was my life’s mantra).

Past couple of days have been buuuusy. Sorry about the missing blogs folks! Taking care of a puppy is no joke (I know I promised less apple talk but I think this is something to be discussed) I feel like I have a new born baby. I have to feed her every 3 hours. I feed her raw meat (her natural carnivore diet) so it is not like I can leave food sitting out for her all day long. I never know what she wants or what she needs…she needs to be played with…it’s nuts! But I love her and it is worth it. Moving on….

OMG can we talk about the sapote fruit! (see image above) deeeeewwwwwd, this thing is deeeelcious! Tastes like vanilla pudding...cereals! If ever you are craving some desert pop open one of these babies and you are good to go.

I have been going quite well, with the exception of eating too few calories in fruit, which I am still working on. For breakfast Thursday I ate 2lbs almost 3 of pears (it was 3 large pears), a large raw salad for lunch, smoothie for dinner. Yesterday I ate 1 lb 8 oz of plums (3 plums) 3 banana smoothie, with some frozen black cherries in it (my new fav!)…. And of course I have to admit that landslide toward thai food has just about done me in L….I am trying really hard guys, but when it comes to dinner time I just want something salty. So I have been having cherry tomatoes with raw hummus, or these raw falafels with hummus as well. …hence the reminder post above.

11/20/09 meal analysis

will start these again Monday, I have a wedding to go to tomorrow….I am going to have to pack a salad in my purse! haha. Quick note....I’m not really retaining how much food actually equals how many calories, I just let nutridiary do it all for me, and I really want to learn how to do it by sight. Monday I will start to try and recognize, by saying 3 bananas instead of 1lb of bananas I think this will also help anyone who goes down this road.

11/20/09 Activities

starting yoga again Monday!

11/18/09 Symptoms

tiny blemishes in between my eyebrows, and on the left side of my mouth L (I hate these mother fers!)

Back on Track

Fruit is Stacey’s Friend...blog entry # 14…my journey in becoming 100% LoFat Raw Vegan, meaning eating 80% or more of my calorie intake from carbs >10% Fat, >10% protein.

Marvelous Guidance

Day 12 11/18/09…(352 to go)

Woke up at 8am found Apple puppy just as happy as ever JHORRAY! Phew man what a horrible anxiety ridden 24 hours. I had no excuse for my mess up yesterday! I am going to come up with a different option to soothe myself for when I just have those really really horrible days. I noticed that Dr. D Graham has some recipes for “celebration” food in his recipe book, so I think those will have to be what I do when I just need that feeling everything is going to be all right, until I learn how to cope with my feelings in the moment…I don’t know about you guys, but for me that is a hefty task, so celebration food it is! Here is great advice I rcvd from two of my fourum friends:

1. it can be very challenging when one has emotional difficulties.~~~There have been very difficult times in my life where I have continued with the fruit diet, even though it was temping to eat or drink something that would numb me a bit to the pain. ~~~However, I continued with the fruit diet, and I really think that it was one of the things that helped carry me through the difficult times.~~~It may have been easier short term to have numbed my feelings, but I know through experience that long term I benefit because the fruit diet does not give quick fixes but rather it helps me because it allows me to heal properly and fully rather than just numbing the pain.~~~So, for me, my past knowledge of how a fruit diet helps me in an appropriate way, rather than just papering over the cracks or covering up the problem, is what helps me to stay in the diet, rather than reach for something that will just numb my emotions. ~~~Recently I lost my dear kitten, in tragic circumstances. The pain was so much, I just wanted something to numb all the feelings. I could really understand why people use drugs or food to take the edge of what can be very 'raw' when one is on a raw diet. ~~~But I do think that not numbing the pain although harder in the short term, allows our emotions to run unhampered; and in the long term I do think we may heal more effectively if we allow full rein to our feelings. ~~~I look to my own past experiences when dealing with emotionally challenges. So maybe as you progress along the raw path, you will be able to use your own personal experiences of the diet's capacity for emotional as well as physical healing to strengthen you on those days when the dark clouds settle. So I think that things do become easier the longer you have been raw. It can be very challenging when you first start out.~~~I also find that exercise can really help to channel frustration and other emotions into something more positive.~~~Or just try to change your focus from food into something else; have a nice relaxing bath or have a massage or do an activity that you enjoy.~~~I think it helps to remember that the long-term raw solutions are not always the quickest or easiest but in the big scheme of things they are the most effective.

2. Practice being present and poised. If we allow our minds to tell us things are tough we can't improve. If we go for a walk or sit still and practice presence, we the joy within will bubble up and harmony will be ours. Raw is not a prize; health is the ongoing goal.

I plan to read these every morning, so that I remember to live in the present, and deal with my emotions correctly. Not only am I practicing this diet for the outer health benefits, but also for the inner ones too….There is not a lot you can run and hide from on this diet…no more eating or drinking yourself into an oblivion, and the eye opener is that we all do this a lot more than we think. I’d like to propose a challenge. Try to only eat when you are truly hungry this week, not bored, not tired, not because it’s lunch time, because you are truly hungry…see how you feel!

~Tried to get all this stuff done today, as my list of things to do keeps growing!, but with this little pup I get like 1 thing done a day…being a puppy mommy is harder than you think folks…time consuming? no LIFE CONSUMING!

I did punish myself for eating cooked food yesterday tho. I cleaned the entire house…I don’t even hate cleaning, I LOATHE it (in scary Ursula voice).

I didn’t eat enough today, completely devoted my day to making sure apple puppy had everything she needed exactly when she needed it. I need to get some bananas I have ran out, these are my big calorie uppers, and tummy fillers.

I am supposed to go for breakfast or lunch tomorrow with my gf, Here is my plan of attack: drink a BIG smoothie before I go. Bring a baggie with some strawberries, and mint. Have a little tuber ware of oj, or apple juice….order mixed greens with cucumber, and add my own toppings! Hope the server isn’t annoyed ;)…i think I would be…haha, but of course everything annoys me (in sly, guilty voice)

11/17/09 Symptoms

still dealing with my cooked food conundrum! …You may be asking why is eating cooked food so bad?!? Please read this http://www.rawfoodexplained.com/cooking-our-food/ I have many other books and articles, if you are interested just leave a comment, and I will direct you ;)

Eyes still dry, itchy and red, itchy nose, sneezing, tinky pee. Have bad anxiety and am exhausted for obvious reasons other than food.

Message from Dr. D (makes me happy my worst symptom is sneezing..well so far who knows what’s to come) Detox can be generalized, but your specific symptoms will likely be
unique, to the individual. From black tar coming out of the umbilicus
to phantom pains to burning feet to sleeping 500+ hours in a month
to inexplicable depression to almost unbearable kidney pain; I have
seen such things and more, and watched people come out the other
side happier, healthier, and better than ever.

Am I a boring blogger??? Any tips for a revamp? Promise to not include so much apple next blog ;) more 811 talk
